Kazumi is a student in New York studying jewelry design. She had left Japan over the strong objections of her father, and although she had left home full of hope and expectation, reality did not turn out the way she had expected. Kazumi fell in love with a married father, but the relationship didn’t last. It was only after the break-up that she discovered she was pregnant. Although unmarried, she swears to bear the child.
Kazumi flies back to Japan when she hears that her father is critically ill. On the flight back, she meets a freelance writer, Yoshimi.
