A married couple is happy before having a child, but after their baby is born, the atmosphere between them becomes strained. “Postpartum Crisis” is a social phenomenon these days, with particularly bad cases building up to divorce. One of the causes is the existence of the “disappointing husband” during that delicate postpartum time, whose insensitive comments increase his wife’s stress to the breaking point.
Yoichi Haruno (Hiroshi Tamaki), who works at a home building company. With his looks, personality, and talent, he’s thought of as the “ideal husband”, but ever since their child was born, Yoichi feels like his wife has become cold to him. He can’t figure out the cause or how to solve the problem, and soon falls to the level of “disappointing husband” at home.
His wife, Chisato (Kana Kurashina), was the ideal Japanese woman before the baby came. She looked at her husband with respect then. However, postpartum, his words and deeds that she tolerated before now bother her. From Yoichi’s point of view, she’s hysterical and has turned into a “monster wife”.
Lifestyles are changing in the modern age, as women are free to make their own choices regarding marriage, childbirth, and divorce. As such, the values of a married couple, as well as families, are changing. This current state of affairs is reflected in the story, but a way that husband and wife can be an “ideal couple” even after the birth of a child is presented.
Will Yoichi and Chisato be able to share their feelings with each other, discuss how to deal with their child, overcome their differences, and finally deepen their bond?
