Sakurako, the beautiful daughter of a distinguished family, has an unusual taste for bones. As a “specimen specialist” with a difficult-to-understand fixation, she claims to “love bones more than any meal.” She is strong-minded and pays no mind to her reputation with others, often pushing those around her away with her blunt, almost cruel way of speaking. Sakurako’s main job involves assembling skeletal samples. With an unmatched passion for beautiful bones, Sakurako works from her home studio assembling animal skeletons. Though she has a unique power of insight, she has no interest to use this skill for serious matters such as the law or administration. Rather, she only shows interest in things that tug at her own heartstrings. But when a crime is committed, Sakurako remarks “what an eloquent corpse,” and she begins a careful analysis of every last detail spoken by the dead body and the scene of the crime. Little by little, she uncovers the truth.
