This is the second installment of a “super costume drama” set in Japan’s samurai era. Featuring totally new “ghost stories” in which each broadcast is a complete story based on motifs from modern and ancient writers, it could be called a new period piece version of ghost stories. The series makes skillful use of computer graphics and special effects in a new type of period drama that has a wide following not limited just to samurai film fans. This is ghost story entertainment that appeals to the latent fears of Japanese.
